Ebola Virus

A detailed 3D model of the Ebola virus, based on current research of the viral protein structures and composition of the virion.
The protein structures used in this illustration can be found in the Protein Data Bank. For the trimeric glycoprotein on the surface of the virus, available structures were used for the most part. However, the part of the protein spanning across the membrane is not resolved and had to be modeled manually. The structure of the nucleocapsid was modeled using cryo-electron microscopy maps as reference.
